Growing up in a strict Pentecostal home left very little options for fashion explorations. My sisters and I wore long skirts and conservative blouses with the peter pan collars, the colorless type that made us look like proper Christian girls, righteous to the Lord's calling. I begged my mother to buy me fashion magazine saying that I needed to

do research for school work! I obsessively collected fashion spreads and imagined myself wearing skin tight Alaia dresses and CK jeans with leather motorcycle jackets. Drinking Coffee Elsewhere by ZZ Packer is a collection of short stories, depicting this sorta unease disposition. Young female characters eager to rid an identity for another. I found myself in some of her characters. Its interesting how many innovators in fashion from stylists to designers came from conservative beginnings that were sheltered from what we treasure now.
That is so on point ! Great post ! It's like a rebellious liberation darling :)!
